Theatre Zingaro, a new dimension
Theatre is one of the oldest forms of entertainment in the world and there have been various groups that have existed in the history of mankind but only a few have sustained and survived over a period of time. But most of the surviving groups have been followers on conventional theatre but Theatre Zingaro has been one group that has redefined theatre by adding a new dimension to it. Zingaro a group that was formed in France during the mid 1980s by an equestrian named Bartabas who was also an actor. He had thought of combining both his interests and hence started Zingaro a theatre group with the cast and crew consisting of humans and horses. This new dimension based theatre group was named after Bartabas’ most liked horse which in Spanish means “gypsy”. Theatre Zingaro started off in France with their first performance Cabaret Equestre gaining huge popularity among the local crowd. This event began the journey of this elite theatre group that showcases the relation between men and horses with a mix of cultures from across the globe.
Some of their other popular shows included hits like “Eclipse”, Chimere” and others while their show “Horses of the wind” was a huge hit among the European audience. Battuta is one of their latest for performances that has been developed for the people in Turkey. The spirit of the artistes with the kind of story explained through and with the horses is truly the sign of a genius at work and there are no two thoughts on the fact that Theatre Zingaro is one of the best theatre groups that has made it big on the international map and has a name for itself among followers across the world. All said and done Theatre Zingaro has added a totally new dimension to theatre which is more than just an act of entertainment.
